…To me, the best and most basic outfit that defines a man is a suit. A really really good suit. It smacks of masculinity and maturity.
The tie is optional because nothing beats a well-cut black suit and white shirt. I chose these cuff links because even with a ‘conventional’ outfit, it’s good to let a bit of personality shine through. And as some of you may know, I heart Tommy Lee Jones, so who better to model the outfit. – Miss Nifty, United States.
…A friend… a boyfriend… a partner… a husband… a father… a son… a grandson… a grandfather… a brother …an uncle… a nephew. We could have one or most of the above and we are lucky to have them in our lives…no matter how perfect or imperfect they are. – Prima Dona, United States.
The moment I saw this challenge it immediately made me think of Hugh Jackman. Not just because of the obvious physical reasons, but because to me he is the quintessential man: He is a modern day Renaissance man who is not afraid to try new things. He is also a great father and husband who loves his family. He knows who he is and has a confidence that is never arrogant or cocky. I had the great fortune to meet Mr. Jackman earlier this month in New York and he was exactly what he he seems like: Jovial, friendly, gracious and yes, very tall and very hot! Man to me is someone who embodies all the things we love about the male species: Primal sex appeal, the love and need to protect, a genuine respect and for women, and confidence that comes not from how much money they make and what they own, but a true sense of self. – Ameerah26, United States.
…Their puzzle piece “A” is a lovely match for our puzzle piece “B”. – Powder Puff, United Kingdom.
“Some men break your heart in two,
Some men fawn and flatter,
Some men never look at you;
And that cleans up the matter.”
A gentleman is simply a patient wolf. ~Lana Turner
It’s not the men in my life, it’s the life in my men. ~Mae West
Men are like a fine wine. They start out like grapes, and it’s our job to stomp on them and keep them in the dark until they mature into something you’d like to have dinner with. ~Author Unknown (Quoted by Jen1987, United States)
…Masculine, strong and tough. – AudreySoh1.
…This guy is MY definition of The MAN! – Natural Born Styler, Greece.
A man is…
…Not perfect, but nor are women.
A man is strong, confident, Byronic and sure of who he is and what he wants. He feigns interest in topics that don’t interest him to please you – and by default please himself – however, he is charming and sexy enough to get away with such a falsity. He is generous and intelligent and makes you laugh, he’s a little bit naughty (but that is required) and he says sorry when he needs to (even if he knows he is right). A man is always willing to compromise and he is not afraid of the ‘triple-threat’ (a woman who is smart, pretty and independent). – AllieHarriet, Australia.
…There is a french expression that says: ” Une main de fer, dans un gant de velour” that means ” A steel hand in a velvet glove” …That’s how a real man should be (and that’s how my man is ;p )… – Badrouchka, Morocco.
…Easy, Simple, Loving, Sweet, Respectful, Nice, Romantic, all for one thing…sex, sex, and more sex! – HarperLeo, United States.
A man is…
…Someone who is not afraid just to wear a white tee. He is confident enough to be casual but still always appropriate. loyal but still a strong presence. traditional yet fresh. They know what is important in life. This is a true man, if only there were enough to go round. – Aribar2.
…Complex in their simplicity, sort of how women are simple in their complexity. they like a woman as she is, adding fake things to her character is only masking, not removing. my boyfriend loves…
– my puppy and how i become like a child in her presence
– when my skin smells good and is soft
– my adoration for seinfeld
– when i wear comfortable shoes so i’m not complaining the whole day
– comfortable clothes that he can tell i move in with ease and pleasure
– a good cocktail and seeing me get a buzz
– candle smells
just to name a few 🙂 – Dolores Haze, United States.
…Like pumpkins. It seems like all the good ones are either taken or they’ve had everything scraped out of their heads with a spoon. – Miss Bea Heyvin, United States.
…Someone who can stand by you. This picture means a lot to me. My man didn’t want to stand by me. He says, “Marry me” and then he hides. – Blondilicious.
…You get a call… He’ll be waiting at a certain bar. You put on your nicest lingerie and just your overcoat… You go into the dark night to meet him …. The one who gives you butterflies … Who makes you feel wild…. That’s my definition of a man. – Vicky1975, United Kingdom.
…Mind-boggling! They have the ability to look dead sexy (day or night) with such little effort but women have to work hard to look like they didn’t even try. I’m merely focusing on clothing here, but I think that’s why the menswear trend is so popular, because all a guy has to do to stop our hearts, is step out in relaxed jeans and a v-neck tee, or for evening, it’s always a great tux. And I will admit to swooning over both the guy and their clothes, because the simple fact is I want the guy AND I want to be able to wear clothes like he does.
So my point is, Man is mind-boggling in his ability to make us want every aspect of his being inside and out….and don’t get me started on scruffy facial hair just making me swoon even more. SO not fair.
On a broader note, man is always the reason behind why we shiver…good and bad…and oh how we love the good 🙂
PS: This photo was a little something I put together in Photoshop…pretty self explanatory… – MashiaraQCS, United States.
There are so many things I can say about men. I really love them with all their sexiness and ruggedness.
Long hair, short hair, facial hair or clean cut. A man protects his family, wears boxer briefs :-), treats his woman like a queen, remembers the little things that make you happy, smells good, likes to cuddle and should be your best friend!! – Marsoline, United States.
“A Man is a person of opposite sex”
I lived with this ultra-sexist definition for many years.
My relationships were always dramatic. I was fighting with them. Even when I loved them I tried to conquer them or to tame them or to change them… I hated their egocentrism, stupid addictions, noisy sport activities, adrenalin rush, useless hobbies, idiotic womanizing…
My view of men has changed once and forever 2 years ago. I gave birth to a man. My son’s the best man I ever met. I enjoy every moment with him. Even such stupid things like holding hands, singing songs or walking on fallen leaves – are wonderful with him.
Now I know men much better. I think I learned to accept men just the way they are 🙂 – Bella Donna, Russia.
